West Wycombe Art Group About Us |
West Wycombe Art Group In the early 1980’s a small group of friends met in the back room of the George and Dragon pub in West Wycombe to paint. The group became the West Wycombe Art Group and once it had outgrown that back room, it moved to the more spacious Village Hall. Now we are a group of 25 artists and we pride ourselves on being one of the most professional art groups in the area. Our styles are varied and our skills encompass the use of watercolour, oils, acrylics, and pastels to name but a few. We meet each Monday evening and between September and May we paint in the village hall. Members take turns to supply a sitter or provide a still life. We also arrange demonstrations, workshops and tutoring by various guest artists as well as the occasional trip to an art exhibition or gallery. During the summer months we paint at outside locations in the area, weather permitting! The highlight of our year is our annual exhibition held over the August Bank holiday. The exhibition provides the perfect opportunity for the group to exhibit the best examples of their art work plus cards, unframed work, and some sculpture to the general public, many of whom return year after year to enjoy and purchase our work. It is an enjoyable social event when we all pull together to put on a really excellent, professional exhibition. Whilst it is always nice to sell our work, the comments and appreciation we receive make it all worthwhile. Please view our website and see the examples of our work and do come and visit us in person at the exhibition in August. Pauline James West Wycombe Art Group |
