After working for chain stores BHS, FW Woolworth and the yarn and thread manufacturers Coats Patons, I opened a retail business called Narcissus and was self-employed for 26 years, retailing artisan jewellery and gifts, in Amersham and then High Wycombe. I followed another path in 2002 by taking a BSc degree in Health Sciences specialising in Herbal Medicine at Westminster University, graduating in 2005 and becoming a Member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists. Regretfully, during my working life, painting took a back seat, apart from the occasional piece on holiday.
I started painting again in 2009 and it now takes up most of my spare time.
My main interests are landscape, seascape, marine and animals, mostly using oils or watercolours. Expression of atmosphere and mood are major factors in my work. I take inspiration from the local countryside in Bucks, from Yorkshire, Wales, and frequent visits to Cornwall.
