RONI WILKINS

I attended Bucks College of Art in the 1960’s studying Art and design.
After a career in Sales and Marketing I returned to painting in 1980
I have exhibited in many local galleries, take part in the Bucks Open Studios
each year and have exhibited with the RI, RBA, Royal Oils,
and the Marine Society at the Mall Galleries

The core elements in my work are composition, mark making, texture and colour.

I am interested in diverse subjects and explore and use a wide variety of mediums.

My work takes me to many locations in variable weather conditions that can result in some fairly spontaneous and lively interpretations.

Information is collected through eclectic mark- making, sometimes gathering scraps of detritus from the area I am working in, i.e. papers, wood, feathers, small metal fragments. These might later be collaged onto my work adding texture and a ‘sense of place’.

I subsequently eliminate unnecessary details through over- painting, scraping and sometimes, collage.
The painting is continually changing, by overlapping areas and adding rhythms through repeated shapes and colours.

I feel the work is resolved when the entire piece ‘hangs together’.

Roni Wilkins exhibits in major exhibitions both local and in London. She won the Cuthbert Mills award for best work on paper at the RBA at the Mall galleries.
