Barbara Blackett
I have always had the desire to draw and be creative. I thoroughly enjoyed my four years at Durham University on the BA (Hons) Fine Art course.
There we had the freedom to experiment under the guidance of distinguished tutors namely Lawrence Gowing, Victor Pasmore and Richard Hamilton. I continue to experiment with acrylic and water based media, drawing into paint with a stick, feather or crumpled paper. Collage fascinates me because it leads the imagination along an unknown path. My inspiration comes from the variety of texture and colour in nature and in the urban landscape.
In 1970 I moved to High Wycombe with my family and taught Art and Design at Lady Verney High School for Girls for 22 years ,the last 10 as Head of Department. I took early retirement and for the next 10 years taught part time at Wycombe High School and Pipers Corner.
I was a long time member of Cookham Art Club and for the last 24 years I have been a member of the West Wycombe Art Group I have exhibited widely with both clubs and Bucks Open Studios.
